ASH Requests a Hazardous Waste Depot in Ward 12

The ASH Clean & Safe Committee requested through Councillor Fleury, to have a Hazardous Waste Depot downtown location for Sandy Hill residents to conveniently and safely dispose of dangerous household items. Councillor Fleury confirms his support for ASH’s request, noting he has “had several conversations with his urban city council colleagues about this need and they all want to see a depot more centrally located”.  Councillor Fleury asked Kevin Wylie, GM Public Works & Environmental Services at the City of Ottawa to provide an update.  Mr. Wylie responded by saying “the City will be providing an upcoming Hazardous Waste Depot at Tunney’s Pasture, which is accessible by LRT and bike”.  We’ll see if this location is satisfactory to the downtown councillors.  ASH was hoping for something a bit closer, but this location is still an improvement to our previous options. Stay tuned!
