Having run for the position of councillor in Ward 12, in 2003 and 2006, and having lived most of my life in your Ward, I am very familiar with your concerns and championed then as I have continued to do since then. A main concept of my platform is giving our communities a voice and your pledge is precisely it! Over the last year I have been a dedicated and central figure in the SOS Vanier movement to stop the Salvation Army’s misguided proposal to build one of the world’s biggest emergency men’s homeless shelter on a Designated Heritage Main Street and to get Ottawa to finally and fully embrace Housing First as our model in dealing with homelessness in a humane fashion without destroying another vulnerable community for all time. Stopping this bad mistake will go a long way to helping Sandy Hill as well. It’s the same sad council story, break every rule in the planning act and ”force’ this development on a community without any Accountability, Consultation or Transparency.
