OC Transpo will be at SHCHC, 221 Nelson St., issuing free PRESTO Cards for Community Pass holders, seniors and adults, on Tuesday, July 23rd from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is a drop in service – so people can come between those hours.
This is an opportunity for clients and the community to obtain a free Presto card. As you may know, in the future, the card itself will cost $6, so this is a great opportunity. When we say free, it refers to the card only (saving the individual the $6). Individuals will be responsible for loading the card with money in order to be able to travel.
Anyone, including seniors, adults and community pass holders are able to get a free PRESTO card. They will need to fill out a green registration form, either in advance or on the day of. Community pass holders will also need to fill out the yellow application for a community pass form. Student passes will not be issued at this location; they will be available at their schools.
Community Pass holders should bring ODSP verification with them (ODSP cheque stub with member ID or the Dental Card). They should also have a piece of photo ID (old bus pass would work). Seniors should bring proof of age (65+) with them.
At the drop in, people will receive the green PRESTO card. They will also be provided help to register the PRESTO card so that it can be cancelled if it is lost/stolen. The actual pass/fare will be need to purchased at another time, at one of the OC Transpo sales sites or online. People can obtain the free PRESTO card now but do not need to use it/purchase a pass or fares until it suits them.
Thanks very much in advance for your participation. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Geri Blinick at email@example.com.
