Residents came out and joined us for the Fall clean-up of Sandy Hill’s parks and streets. This year, there were two main events to support the annual Capital Campaign Fall Clean-up.
The first clean-up was conducted on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Strathcona Park and on the streets of Sandy Hill. The starting point was the parking lot of Strathcona Park at the foot of Somerset Street East. Participants brought their own work gloves. Garbage bags and yard waste bags were provided.
The second clean-up was conducted on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Chapel Street Splash Pad (Chapel Street north of Laurier Avenue East). Participants provided their own garbage bags and work gloves for this clean-up.
Participation in the clean-up of the Splash Pad was always an excellent way to go out and meet other Sandy Hill families and users of this important public space. The event also marked the launch of ASH’s Splash Pad Revitalization Project – the event was an opportunity to contribute your views regarding how to revitalize, refresh and re-energizing this wonderful space through informal dialogue and grassroots discussion.
High school students were welcome to use either of the activities to earn volunteer hours.
